Proverbs 29:2 - "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."
Authority is often abused. It can be used to oppress, persecute, and belittle. The wicked see their position of authority as beneficial to themselves and for their gain. The righteous understand biblical authority and know their position is for the benefit of those under it. There is a biblical pattern for any authority you find yourself in. As fathers, mothers, employers, pastors, teachers, etc., we should understand this principle of biblical authority and know what the Bible says about the responsibilities and duties that come with our authority.
