The Fruit Of The Spirit

Galatians 5:22-23 - "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."
Notice verse 22 contrasts the fruit of the Spirit and the works of the flesh in the previous verses. For a long time, I made the mistake of trying not to do the works of the flesh and doing the works of the Spirit. What a disaster that was! The contrast is not the works of the flesh and the works of the Spirit; it’s the fruit of the Spirit, the product, or the produce of the Spirit. You can try to do the “works” of the Spirit in the arm of the flesh for a little while, but boy, it’s tough. The fruit of the Spirit is the natural product of walking in the Spirit. Don’t make the same mistake I did; walk in the Spirit, crucify the flesh, pour in the truth of God’s word, and watch as it produces love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.
