The LORD Is Our Refuge!

Psalm 91:1 - "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
In Psalm 91, the Psalmist reminds us that the LORD is our refuge, fortress, defender, and protection. But notice this protection is based on our position to him; hence, the words dwelleth and abide. Devotionally, this Psalm corresponds with Romans 8:6 and the consequences of being carnally minded (death) and the benefits of being spiritually minded (life & peace). Our way of thinking affects the way we live or, as the Psalmist suggests, where we “dwell.” We tend to dwell on carnal (worldly) things and not the spiritual. In times of need, we turn to the secret place of the most High, and I am glad that when things get bad as Christians, we can run to the shadow of the Almighty, but wouldn’t it be better if we would dwell there?
